The Summit County Department of Community and Economic Development primarily handles building permits for unincorporated townships. Certain areas may be subject to additional review by the Summit County Engineer for stormwater management or the Summit County Public Health department for septic and well systems.
Summit County Public Health enforces strict regulations regarding private sewage treatment systems and well water permits for properties outside of municipal sewer service areas.
