PEST CONTROL x GEORGIA

Pest Control contractor requirements in Georgia.

Pest control is one of Georgia's most tightly regulated trades. The Structural Pest Control Act requires three credentials at once: the company itself must be licensed, at least one certified operator must direct the work in each category, and every employee who performs or solicits pest control must be individually registered with the Commission.

Insurance is statutory, not optional: coverage minimums are written into O.C.G.A. § 43-45-9, and a lapse suspends the license automatically by operation of law. Cities and counties cannot issue a business license to a pest control company without proof of state compliance.

§ 08 · Georgia FAQ

Questions pest control contractors ask about Georgia.

Q01Do I need a license to run a pest control business in Georgia?+
Yes — three credentials at once: a company license, at least one certified operator per category, and individual registration of every employee who performs or solicits work, all through the Structural Pest Control Commission at the Department of Agriculture.
Q02What insurance does Georgia require for pest control?+
At least $50,000 per occurrence / $200,000 aggregate including sudden-and-accidental pollution liability (O.C.G.A. § 43-45-9(d)). Termite/WDO companies also need $100,000 / $500,000 including errors-and-omissions. A lapse suspends the license automatically.
Q03When do Georgia pest control licenses renew?+
Everything expires June 30 of odd-numbered years on a two-year cycle. Late renewal doubles the fees.
Q04Can a city refuse my business license without the state credential?+
The reverse — under O.C.G.A. § 43-45-15, no city or county may issue a business license for structural pest control without proof of state compliance.
